Frequently asked questions.

How to place an Order:

Click on “Lab Services” at the top of the page. Choose your service, and add to cart.

Your Order Number is at the top of your confirmation email which you will receive after you check out.

To drop film off at Eagle Rock Camera, you must make an order online or use the QR code on the drop-off box. When you have your order confirmation email, fill out an envelope with the date, your name, and order number. Drop your film in the envelope, and place it in the drop-off box. Orders are picked up twice a week.

How do I pick up my negatives?

Once you receive an email confirming that your film is processed, you will receive an email to let you know that your negatives are ready to be picked up. You can pick your negatives up at Eagle Rock Camera during normal business hours. If you would like your negatives shipped to you, choose USPS Priority Mail at checkout.

We will hold your negatives for 30 days, at which time we will dispose them. If you need us to store your negatives for longer, please reach out via the Contact page so we can work with you to find a solution.

We will be returning all blank negatives going forward to avoid any confusion.

What are the sleeving options?

You can receive your negatives Uncut in a continuous sleeve, cut into four frame strips in our Standard sleeves, or cut into six frame strips in a Printfile sheet.

Printfile sheets are $2 extra, while the other two options are both free.

Do you process disposable cameras?

We accept almost all disposable cameras. Please choose 35mm colour or 35mm Black & White when ordering.

I souped my film, can I send it to you to develop?

Please, do not send us souped film. Whatever you souped your film in will contaminate our chemistry and you will be on the hook for a very expensive bill to replace it! Souping film is cool, but should be carried out only if you plan to process your film at home.

How do you scan?

Standard Service orders are scanned using our Noritsu HS-1800 scanner. The scanner can output high-res JPEGs and TIFFs, perfect for web and social, as well as printing up to 16x20.

We are happy to offer high-res, personalized scans with our Imacon 646 scanner. The Imacon produces near drum scanner detail and quality at a much more affordable price. Imacon scans are priced per frame. We cannot scan single frames of 35mm or 120, only strips of at least three frames.

When ordering Imacon scans, please send us a reference file (JPEG or TIFF is fine) to hello@photodeptlab.com with your order number. If you need a more personalized profile, please reach out.

Imacon scans typically have a longer turnaround time, based on what’s in the queue. We can give you an idea of the current turnaround time at the time of your order.

How is film processed?

All film that comes through the lab is processed with Jobo Film Processors for consistency, stability, and repeatability.

For C-41, we use Kodak chemistry, which is the industry standard for a lot of really incredible labs.

For E-6, we use Arista E-6 chemistry.

All of our B/W film is stand processed using Adox Rodinal as a semi-stand process. Using a semi-stand process allows us to process multiple brands, speeds, and formats of b/w film more quickly, while maintaining the individual characteristics of each film.

Read more about stand development processes here.

What is your Turnaround Time?

Typically, processing and scanning takes 5 days, often faster. Scans are delivered Monday-Thursday, film is picked up from the drop-box at Eagle Rock Camera and Goods Tuesday-Sunday.

Can you push/pull my film?

We believe that most modern films can handle a +2 stop difference in exposure and still look excellent when processed normally, which is why there is no option on the order form. We recommend all film be processed normally for the best results, but we can push +2 stops if you need it.

We will push your film +2 stops for free with a 3 roll minimum, meaning we need at least 3 rolls to process a +2 batch. We do not offer pulling services at this time.

If you need your film pushed, please indicate on your order envelope, mark the rolls that need to be pushed, and email us BEFORE we process your film so that we can make a note of it.
